FAQ

What is a Hackathon?

Pretty much the coolest thing ever. Hackathons are competitions that will help you build connections and learn new skills. Here at SJ Hacks, participants will be in teams of up to four, all working on the same project. Utilizing various skillsets, teams will have the chance to prove themselves to various judges for the chance to win awesome prizes.

What are the conduct guidelines?

Don't bring any firearms, knives, weapons, drugs, or alcohol. Don't use an old project. Our team members will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody. Basically be nice to everyone, which ensures that all guests have a positive experience at our hackathon!

Do I need a team?

Not at all! While some people may come with teams ready, many others will not have created teams yet, or may only have partial teams. Before the event begins, we will have a team building workshop for all participants who need teams.

What do I need to Bring?

You'll need a laptop, or some kind of device you can program on. Make sure to have your student ID for check-in!

What does it cost?

SJHacks is free for all accepted hackers. We provide meals, caffeine, swag, workspace, and WiFi.

Who can come?

SJ Hacks is hosting its first hackathon for SJSU students only.
